Overview
The Orchestra of Southern Utah (OSU) is a performing orchestra which plays at venues all over the USA. It was founded as part of the Southern Utah University (SUU) in 1897. Musicians are amateurs and professionals drawn from all over Iron County under the directorship of Conductor Maestro Xun Sun. It provides classical and popular music and sponsors a series of Fall recitals.
Since 1996 the OSU has been an independent non-profit organization. The Cedar City Heritage Center Theater is its main base, providing storage for its music library, percussion instruments, music stands and Baldwin grand piano.
The main highlights of the OSU events are:
- Annual Messiah production
- Children’s Carnival
- Fall recitals
- Winter concerts
- Spring concerts
